Dean we always like working with traditional materials in more of a modern way, and thats exactly what were doing here in the kitchen, mud room and bath area. Here you go lenny. Lenny well thanks. Dean now its traditional because were working with linoleum. This has been around since the 19th century. And modern because were working with a glueless, click lock system. Now were working with 3 different colors. A couple different sizes. I think a great looking design. And weve made some pretty Good Progress already in the mud room. Now typically when we install a plank floor what we like to do is start on a nice long wall. Lay the planks against that and then work our way out from there. But with all the cabinets around here, we really didnt have that option. So instead, we took a 2x2, snapped a chalk line and laid it along the chalk line and started laying from that 2x2 out. Miriam one thing we want to do is show some of the details going into the deck and the screen porch out back so well visit that part of the construction as things come together here. But lets focus right now on whats going on out front. As we start our porch roof, were going to be using the same material as were using on the rest of the house roof. The main element is this dimensional shingle. There are a few other things in this system that you should know about. The first is a leak barrier. This is going to go over the most vulnerable parts of the roof. And then well have our roof deck protection which is going to go over the rest of the sheathing. The guys are using an underlayment thats reinforced with fiberglass which is a lot lighter than conventional felts or tar papers so theres more roof protection on each roll. And for this space to work, i need three mirrors to match the cabinets below that are walnut and have a classic, old look to it. Come with me. Ill show you how to cut this egganddart molding and create your own custom frame, whatever the size. Lets head to the woodshop. Any good frame on a mirror or a picture will have a mitered angle, and the way to cut it is with a miter saw. But first, before you start cutting, make sure that the fence is lined up all the way across. Another thing is the table has to be flat.
