Updated 9:04 PM;
One person died Wednesday evening after a MAX train struck them on a track in Southeast Portland.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said the Orange Line train hit the person near the Southeast Clinton Street and Southeast 12th Avenue station about 6:50 p.m.
TriMet spokesperson Roberta Altstadt said a portion of the Orange Line was closed amid an investigation and that shuttle buses were transporting passengers between Portland State University and Southeast 17th Avenue and Rhine Street. The train is still operating between the end of the line and Rhine Street and 17th Avenue, Altstadt said.
