Tom Haberstroh's mother is still alive, much to the surprise of Dan Le Batard

Ryan: How could you? Le Batard: Okay, let’s leave that in there. That’s fine. That deserves to be in there. $50. Tom, your first thing here, I thought he had lost his mom. Jesus Christ. That’s terrible. $50 fine. Ryan: $100! Ryan: Paid directly to Tom Haberstroh, and match it to another charity. Le Batard: I…this is horrific, what just happened here. Publicly, I am sinking into it, deeply ashamed. I am giving you a $50 bonus… Ryan: How does one person do this so often? I’m confused by it. Le Batard: Tom, I’m deeply sorry… Haberstroh: I’m grieving now about my mother’s death, and you inform me I have a job, and you also inform me my mother just passed.

"The balloon always needs to be punctured": Tommy Craggs, Drew Magary talk to Dan Le Batard about Deadspin's great days "The balloon always needs to be punctured": Tommy Craggs, Drew Magary talk to Dan Le Batard about Deadspin's great days

02/11/2021 Saying that Deadspin isn’t anything near what it was once likely won’t draw much argument. But in its heyday, the site made a significant impact in sports media and was extremely popular with reports like Brett Favre sending explicit texts to Jenn Sterger and revealing that the story of Manti Te’o’s dead girlfriend was a hoax. Former Deadspin editor Tommy Craggs and writer Drew Magary appeared on Dan Le Batard’s “South Beach Sessions” podcast to reminisce about the site’s legacy and the sequence of events leading up to both leaving Gawker Media. Both discussed Deadspin’s role in disputing ESPN’s dominance of the sports media marketplace and giving voice to fans who felt they weren’t getting the whole story.

John Skipper and Dan Le Batard seeking $10–$15 million in initial financing for Meadowlark Media venture

John Skipper and Dan Le Batard seeking $10–$15 million in initial financing for Meadowlark Media venture Meadowlark is looking for investment from multiple partners, not just one. 01/23/2021 Pretty much as soon as Dan Le Batard was out the door at ESPN, we learned that he intended to partner up with another former ESPNer to form a new venture. Earlier this month reports dropped that Le Batard would be reuniting with executive John Skipper for a new media venture that eventually took shape, pointing to a progressive, liberal-leaning enterprise that would be something in the same vein as the conservative-focused Outkick. Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy reported that Skipper was looking to bring on talents such as Jemele Hill, Bomani Jones, and Kate Fagan, with Hill confirming that she had discussions with him already.
