A former Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker won’t judge the CFL team for its decision to let him leave in free agency.
“I knew the chance I was taking and I knew the possible outcome,” Cameron Judge told The Green Zone on Monday. “I understand how the business goes, so it’s nothing personal.”
Judge joined the Roughriders in 2017 after they selected him in the first round (second overall) of that year’s draft.
After two seasons as a part-time defender, Judge became a full-time member of the Roughriders’ defence in 2019 and he ran with the opportunity.
However, with the CFL and CFLPA preparing to sit down to talk about return to play in 2021, be prepared to see CFL teams increase the size of practice rosters, which goes a long way to explain spending to the bottom of the cap. I was reminded of the predicament the Denver Broncos found themselves in this past season when all four quarterbacks were held out of a game due to Covid 19 exposure and the Broncos had to start a wide receiver who had played QB in college.
An expanded practice roster makes sense to deal with situations like the Broncos experienced or to deal with injuries where bringing a player up from the States might be tough when they have to be in quarantine for two weeks before going onto the roster. Having a pool of players up here would help reduce costs in bringing players in.

With question marks still surrounding some of the players the Saskatchewan Roughriders hoped to re-sign, general manager Jeremy O’Day decided against the wait-and-see approach.
The first day of CFL free agency saw the Roughriders sign a bevy of players, with a majority of those players on the defensive side of the ball.
The team is heading into 2021 with none of its starting linebackers from 2019 under contract. Derrick Moncrief is currently signed to a future/reserve contract with the Los Angeles Rams, Solomon Elimimian retired and Cam Judge is still pursuing NFL opportunities.

An arrest in Kamloops late last year led to the recent seizure of loaded firearms in the Nelson area. The investigation led RCMP to believe more firearms were outstanding and that the owner may not be complying with provisions of his firearms license. Nelson RCMP executed a search warrant which resulted in the seizure of three firearms, loaded and insecure. The suspect was not home at the time.
