Rajkot: Suspecting that the notorious Gediya gang or Tadpatri gang may have become active again, Surendranagar police on Tuesday night carried out a combing operation in six villages of Patdi and seized allegedly stolen goods worth Rs 14 lakh.
Police informed that during the combing operations in Sokhda village they recovered goods and cosmetic items including 32 LED TV sets, 13 table fans, eight ceiling fans, HD printer and scanner, four batteries, Shampoo bottles and other cosmetic items from a room on a farm owned by one Bhanji Khan Malek.
A few days ago a police complaint was lodged against unidentified persons for stealing LED TV sets from a moving truck on the highway prompting the police to launch a combing operation on Tuesday night to nab the suspects.
Vadodara: Former councillor Bhavesh Patel, accused of raping a 25-year-old woman in Padra, was arrested by the local crime branch (LCB) rural from Jai.
Vadodara: A 25-year-old woman from Padra has registered a rape complaint against former councillor Bhavesh Patel at Padra police station. The complainant told the police that Patel forced himself on her when she was with him in his SUV on April 26.
The woman, who works in a shop at a mall in the city, said that she was invited to a party at a farmhouse in Sokhda village by her friend Shivam Patel on April 26. After her duty hours, she headed home for dinner and then went to the farmhouse. She told the cops that some of the persons present in the party were having liquor.
Vadodara: A farmer couple’s London dreams came tumbling down when the visa consultant took away their money and did not help them get visa.
Paresh Patel, a farmer in Anand, lodged a complaint of cheating at Sayajigunj police station on Saturday alleging that consultant Bhavesh Valand defrauded him and seven other visa aspirants of Rs 9.5 lakh.
Patel told the police that wanting to move to the United Kingdom, he contacted his friend Ravi Barot in Vadodara in June 2019 for a reference of a visa consultant. Barot called Patel to meet at his office at Alankar Tower in Sayajigunj where he introduced Patel to Valand and also told Patel that Valand is a trustworthy and that he will take a guarantee for the latter.
Amit Chihla was arrested with goods worth 27 lakh
Rajkot: A man who bought stolen goods from a gang of robbers targeting trucks parked on highways was arrested from Sokhda village of Dhrangadhra taluka in Surendranagar on Thursday.
Police also recovered stolen goods, the car used for committing the offence, all worth Rs 27 lakh, from the accused identified as Amit Chihla.
Goods seized by Chihla’s house included women’s dress materials, readymade garments, mobile phones, soaps, hair oil, sound systems, kitchenware items, ceiling fans, bicycles, clocks and car accessories. Foods items like jaggery and ghee was also found from another house where the accused had stored the stolen goods.
