let s remember why schneiderman is in office because of the way he treated women that he was involved with and a woman he wasn t involved with. that s the thing that i wish we could say this is a bad thing societally, whether it is eric schneiderman, who is a democrat, whether it is eric greitens, the governor of missouri, accused of some allegations of blackmail, sexual man cisconduct, this is period. you re taking joy in the fact that this person engaged in violent behavior with women, and no one wants to celebrate that. but it is in that regard, and in the very political sense, it is people don t silo things, right? you got democrats who will say this is more a republican problem because a lot of democrats are carrying the me too mantle against trump and republicans and republicans can say, oh, really? that s true. and, look, rubin kuhn in nevada,
people in your life, and if you re not doing enough to protect them, to protect their physical security, their emotional security, to protect their innocence, and i m asking you to step up and do more, because societally, it is the responsibility of the adults, those of us who are in a position to do more, to protect our young people, we re not doing a good job of it. martha: you talk about the fact that there ve always been guns in america but there haven t always been these horrific vicious and possible understand killings by children of other children. what has changed? we have become rudderless as a society. you take the culture of life or death however you want to look at it, do we celebrate life? or do we celebrate death in this culture? again, this is a heavy, heavy topic. you look at musical lyrics, you look at video games, you look at the television programming and the movies and how increasingly
behavior in the workplace. and the problem is that when you set workplace expectations where this behavior is allowed or is insufficiently punished, predators continue to prey. that s why this guy went on to make other women at the very least feel uncomfortable, let alone possibly unwelcome in their work places. so it s very disappointing. i would love to hear from hillary clinton about in retrospect, in hindsight if she thinks this was handled correctly. maybe she has evolved. societally we are having this conversation right now where we are re-evaluating how we consider these institutional problems. if you want to give hillary the benefit of the doubt, maybe she could say i have changed my mind. but she has not given any indication to this point that she s willing to at least think of herself critically. she said she had reached out to the young woman in question and had a conversation with her and thanked her for speaking out but no full-throated i screwed
me at weird hours. and it s not okay. it s not okay. i think culturally, societally, we sometimes have brushed over this sort of treatment because it s somewhat socially acceptable or is considered normal and what has been exposed is, wait a minute, this shouldn t be normal. and yet we also hear from people who say i was afraid to come forward because of the potential consequences. is anything be done in the tech world to help embolden these women to come forward without the fear of what that could mean for them in their professional lives or personal lives? this is where it s interesting because it s a real problem in tech but tech can always provide a solution. there s actually a company launching in the next couple of weeks called all voices. you have a vp, claire schmidt and a woman named susan fowler.
adjudicated in some areas yet, they are vilified and put in positions to defend themselves. what is the best course politically? i think the key thing is to encourage the judge to tell his side of the jury. harris: who does he talk to? who would you pick? i think it has to be alabama, someone he knows he will get a fair shoot on. at the end of the day if there is no story there, if this woman has made this up, i think he tries to fight it out and move on. we ve had cases in the past where there were more severe charges. it s not fair to put him in harris: societally, this idea of people stepping in area areas, the details may be different. the good thing is it s gone on for a long time.
