search in mar-a-lago. meanwhile, it s primary day in two states, typically don t get a lot of attention, but the elections in alaska and wyoming could derail one political career and reignite another. and back here in washington, the white house and democratic leadership want to remind people that they re passing historic legislation. we ll have more about their plans in just a moment. good morning. and welcome to way too early. on this tuesday, august 16th. i m jonathan lemire. thanks for being with us. the justice department has asked a judge to keep the affidavit pertaining to the search warrant of mar-a-lago sealed. citing a need to protect the investigation and witnesses. the affidavit contains the government s reasoning for conducting the search. in a court filing submitted yesterday, federal prosecutors
it d jeopardize the investigation as well as the safety of some involved. tell us more about that. this is a theme we ve seen play out just in the days after trump made the announcement about the search at the mar-a-lago resort. you have chris wray coming out, saying there has been significant threats against law enforcement. this is just another thing, another element that s playing into this. these remarks are really not unfounded. you had the fbi, one of their field offices in ohio, a man came in, stormed in there armed. this is a really real threat against law enforcement. if they think the if the doj thinks that, you know, people may be harmed in releasing this affidavit, then it says some of the remarks may have merit, given what has happened the last few days. headquarters for the fbi down here in washington added security this week, as well. one last quick one for you. we were talking about liz cheney s political future. may get defeated tonight in a
