Tonight, this is the damage after an explosion and fire. Joe vasquez is in oakland tonight. Joe . Reporter and liz, you can see the effects of this explosion right here. Glass blown out of that window here in the 3500 block of brighton. And that right now, red cross workers on the scene to take care of some folks left homeless by this fire. Soon after this house on Brighton Avenue caught fire, flames began to shoot out the windows. The house next door was in serious danger of also going up in smoke. Neighbors say it started with a loud explosion. Boom. Just a loud boom. And the whole house shook. And as you can see, the flames went up about ten feet. Reporter this man was upset because his cat was trapped inside. He wanted to go in after it. What blew up . I dont know what the origin of the fire is just yet. I dont know if anything blew up
