erpenbach. the snenator called for you and other senators to come home, to get the bill debated on and voted on. let s listen to the reason he gave today. that $30 million, if we don t get it by starting our health care and contributions by april 1st, translates in this budget, which ends june 30th, translates to 1500 state and government employees off. as i said before, i don t want to lay anyone off. the equivalent for the next budget would be 5,000 to 6,000 state government employees, and 5,000 to 6 tho,000 local worker. in this economy, even though our unemployment rate is better than the average, it s still at 7%.
