Google and Dublin City Council are working together on a new initiative to measure air quality across the city. The Air View Dublin partnership will see Google’s Street View car deployed around the city to measure air quality for one year, starting from today (10 May). The initiative is being rolled out as part of the council’s Smart Dublin programme, and it has already been working with Google on ways to inform smart transit programmes with the goal of reducing emissions and increasing the use of cleaner modes of transport.

Google and Dublin City Council Launch Innovative Partnership to Capture Dublin's Air Pollution Street-by-Street

10th May 2021: The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Hazel Chu, today launched “Air View Dublin”, an initiative that will see Google’s Street View car take to the streets of Dublin to measure air quality across the city. This initiative will be rolled out in Dublin in collaboration with Dublin City Council as part of its Smart Dublin programme, as the next phase of its partnership with Google’s Environmental Insights Explorer (EIE), to inform smart transit programs with the goal of reducing emissions and increasing the use of cleaner modes of travel. The initiative will see Google’s first electric Street View car, a Jaguar I-PACE, deployed around the city measuring air quality for one year from the 10th of May. In Ireland, this is the first time a Google Street View car has been used to capture air pollution and greenhouse gas measurements in addition to Google Maps Street View imagery, a feat possible due to the integration of Google’s Street View technology into the vehicle by

Minister McGrath announces 20 projects to be funded under Public Service Innovation Fund 20 diverse projects have successfully secured funding from this year’s call for ideas under the Public Service Innovation Fund , an initiative of the Our Public Service 2020 reform strategy for development and innovation in the Public Service. The Fund, which was established in 2019, is a competition designed to support innovative ideas from public service bodies to promote collaboration and new and better approaches to service delivery. This year’s call saw a total of 279 project proposals received from organisations in all sectors of the Public Service - Civil Service, Defence Forces, Education Sector, Health Sector, Local Government, Justice Sector and Non-Commercial State Agencies.
