The Coburg-Moreland level crossing and train station replacement project has been put up for a major award in a move locals have branded controversial.
Brisbane-based practice, BVN won The Emil Sodersten Award for Interior Architecture for their very own studio – BVN Brisbane Studio. Impressed with the work, the jury noted, “Visually and viscerally connected to place, the design caresses our senses and encourages a more nature-centred approach to life.” BVN also earned The Daryl Jackson Award for Educational Architecture for their work on the Brisbane South State Secondary College.
Walknorth Architects won the highest honour at the New South Wales 2022 Country Division Architecture Awards for their work on the Scribbly Bark House.
Commenting on the high quality and vibrancy of architectural practice in regional areas, NSW Regional Country Division jury chair Noel Thomson said, “Buildings in regional areas help to encourage social connections in a town. As the custodians of the built environment, architects are well-placed to deliver projects that increase these bonds and lift our regional areas.”
