i get it unless i agree with their economic plans. all of you at home should know what those plans are. instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some republicans some republicans want medicare and social security to sunset. i m not saying it s a majority let me give you anybody who doubts it contact my office. i ll give you a copy i ll give you a copy of the proposal. that means congress doesn t vote i ll tell you i enjoy conversion. you know, it means if congress doesn t keep the program the way they are i m not saying it s a majority of you. i don t even think it s a significant but it s being proposed by individuals. i m politely not naming them, but it s being proposed by some
greene called president biden a liar, that is when the president was talking about republicans wanting to chip away retirement spending for social security and medicare. we also some some yell from republican lawmakers when president biden was talking about the fentanyl crisis in the u.s. saying we should close the border and one lawmaker even yelling out it s your fault. while we did see a lot of pleas for bipartisanship in the speech, there were those moments of bitter parsonship when we saw republican lawmakers try to stand up and interrupt the speech. and house speaker mccarthy had warned republicans not to do just that and yet some didn t listen. 12 different times president biden said for the congress to let them finish the job as the nation comes out of the pandemic and tries to repair the economy. but it also felt like as much as that s an earnest repeal for bipartisanship, it s also a trap republicans have laid.
anybody in good faith to talk about ways to lower the deficit, but that needs to be a separate conversation. we cannot have a situation where house republicans are getting away with hostage taking, hostage taking on the economy in order to cut social security and medicare. so we ve had a lot of discussions in recent days about some polls that have come out that show that the american people, despite the legislative record that the biden white house can show them, don t feel like the president has done enough. they don t feel like especially on issues of the economy that what the white house has done has broken through. so how do you change that? if the message hasn t landed yet, obviously last night s speech helped. you guys are going on the road starting today. how do you change that approach so americans do start listening? well, you know, you said it, john. last night the president had an opportunity to speak directly to millions of people about the progress that we re starting

and said, here is our plan for candidates out there to run on, to sunset all programs, including social security and medicare every five years. and they re booing reality! and rick scott ran for leader against mitch mcconnell and got ten votes on this platform! on this platform. and it s not just him. i think the republican leadership has a plan to eliminate the deficit in ten years. if you eliminate the deficit in ten years, that sounds like a noble goal, there is no way you don t slash medicare and social security. this has been around the republican right wing for a very long time and joe biden was so deft. he let them walk into his trap. he rope-a-doped them. now all of the american people have seen them say, no, we re not going to cut social
