Health district reports five new deaths, 192 cases

Frederick and Warren counties each reported two deaths, and Shenandoah County reported one. The health district, which covers Winchester and the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren, reported two additional outbreaks Tuesday for a total of 69 outbreaks, according to the Virginia Department of Health’s online dashboard at vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus. The two outbreaks are at long-term care facilities, the site states. Information on the two facilities isn’t specified at the site, which updates on Fridays, but Greenfield of Woodstock has been added among other facilities as of the site’s latest update. Greenfield of Woodstock reported an outbreak in progress on Dec. 17, with nine cases and zero deaths, the site states at tinyurl.com/ya8y8vs2.

Health district adds 109 cases, one more death

Virginia added 3,591 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday as the Lord Fairfax Health District added 109 new cases. The Health Department also reported 135 statewide hospitalizations and 51 deaths on Tuesday. Locally, Clarke County reported one new death. The Lord Fairfax district, which covers Winchester and the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren, has a seven-day average of 124 new daily cases. Frederick added 41 new cases, Shenandoah 29, Winchester 17, Warren 12, Page six and Clarke four. No new hospitalizations were recorded locally on Tuesday. The district s seven-day positivity rate for PCR tests is 12.4% out of 113,955 PCR testing encounters, according to the Virginia Department of Health’s online dashboard at vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus. This is 0.5% higher than on Monday.
