but we re being kept quite far away from this. and from what i m seeing, though, this is an operation definitely going on here. the police have surrounded the skyline building. and there s right now an operation going on for sure. john? and just for our viewers who may be joining us, kathy, let s just recap what we have learned over the last hour or so from police in terms of the targets here, what was used by these attackers. and what exactly the police have been telling us. john, i recaearlier, the nat police spokesman spoke to report just outside of the building. where the in front of the police station there was a target. there were four people who were killed. one of them a policeman and three civilians, but he could
explosion this morning. it was swift, and it s toward the central area. the response was very quick. i got there, you know, a few minutes after the explosion happened, and special forces were heavily armed going into the building. the police here, they have been recommended and recognized for the work they ve done in terms of breaking down the terror network in indonesia and there was a group responsible for the body bombings. but what you re seeing here is smaller sen tgroups that are ra and checking different methods in terms of launching attacks here that have become smaller and they ve also attacked police and government authorities more than western targets.
much more frightening for you over the past few hours. when did you know something was unfolding outside today? i was pulling into the u.n. building. i was behind it, thankfully, coming back, and we got a phone call from our security saying that something happened in front of the building. a suspected bomb had gone off. we weren t quite sure what was going on. we then pulled up to the front and got out of the car to go in, and suddenly a bomb went off, a fairly sizable one, pretty close by, just around the corner, i guess. at this point we realized we were in a bit of a problem here. we rushed into the building. about a couple minutes later, that s where we tried to get in an elevator to go up to our office on the tenth floor. a third bomb went off, and then gosh, this was really bad. we got up to the office and heard a fourth and fifth and
united nations office on drugs and crime. he s in jakarta and he heard a series of blasts. i was in the car. and our driver got a call from our security asking where we were. they said a bomb had gone off in front of the building. but we were actually luckily pulling into the back of the building. we pulled up and got out of the car. there was a little bit of chaos because people weren t quite sure what was going on. and then a second bomb went off as we were getting out of the car. and we basically rushed into the building. then a third bomb went off. we went up to our office on the tenth floor and now we re in lockdown on the tenth floor op our office building. and then a fourth and a fifth and a sixth bomb and then we heard small arms fire in the street in front of the building. and i understand there s an internal note there from the u.n. saying at least one u.n. employee has been injured? yeah. we re not there s a lot of information flying around, and i don t zsh i m not p
