The manager of Newham Bookshop has waxed lyrical about this year s World Book Day offering, with hundreds of books in store ready to be distributed to Newham children.
Vivian Archer, whose independent shop soon celebrates its 43rd birthday, is proud to have been part of the initiative since its inception: We’ve been doing it from the start. Giving children a free book is a great initiative, especially in an area like Newham where some may not own a book.

The TV presenter shared a photo of her seven-year-old daughter Alaia dressed as Willy Wonka from Roald Dahl s
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, wearing a gold and purple hat, matching gold bowtie, floral waistcoat, and a gold skirt with Wonka bars printed across it. Happpyyyyyy World Book Day, Rochelle captioned her picture. Oh you better worrrkkkk it Willy Wonka #worldbookday.

World book day is a worldwide celebration of all things surrounding books and reading for kids. In a world that is constantly being upgraded with new technologies that tightly grip the attention of young people, simply reading a book for pleasure has never been more crucial.
World Book Day says; Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a childâs future success â more than their family circumstances, their parents educational background or their income .
