Deschutes National Forest firefighters plan to take advantage of favorable conditions to continue prescribed burning across the Bend-Fort Rock, Crescent and Sisters Ranger Districts. On Tuesday, if favorable conditions persist, firefighters on the Sisters Ranger District plan to conduct 240 acres of prescribed burning approximately 5 miles south of Sisters along Forest Service Road (FSR) 1505. A short-term trail detour for the Metolius-Windigo Trail will be implemented approximately three trail miles from Sisters Cow Camp. A shot-term trail detour will also be in effect on the Peterson Burn Horse Trail about one and a half miles west of Whychus Creek Crossing. Trail closures are implemented for public and firefighter safety. Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District firefighters completed 221 acres of prescribed fire adjacent to Sunriver today. Deschutes National Forest firefighters plan to take advantage of favorable conditions to continue prescribed burning across the Bend-Fort Rock, Crescent and Sisters Ranger Districts. On Wednesday, if favorable conditions persist, firefighters on the Sisters Ranger District plan to conduct 153 acres of prescribed fire adjacent to Forest Service Road (FSR) 1505 approximately two miles south of Sisters. No road or trail closures are anticipated. Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District firefighters plan to continue working in the Opine units five miles west of Pine Mountain. If conditions remain favorable, they will conduct approximately 200 acres of prescribed burning just east of Camp II OHV Staging Area. Portions of OHV Trails #10 and #40 will be closed during operations for firefighter and public safety. Camp II OHV Staging Area will remain open. Fire managers on the Deschutes National Forest hope to take advantage of favorable conditions to conduct multiple prescribed burns across the Bend-Fort Rock, Crescent and Sisters Ranger Districts. Ignitions for these prescribed burns will last one day. On Wednesday, if favorable conditions persist, firefighters on the Sisters Ranger District plan to conduct two prescribed burns totaling 220 acres. The first planned unit is 43 acres and located one mile south of Sisters along Forest Service Road (FSR) 1605. The second unit slated for ignition is 184 acres and located six miles southwest of Sisters along FSR 16. While no road or trail closures are anticipated, a suggested detour for the Peterson Ridge Tie Trail will be signed in the area. Flaggers will be used in the event that smoke impacts FSR 16. Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District firefighters plan to conduct a 555-acre prescribed burn five miles west of Pine Mountain near the junction of FSR 18 and 25. Several OHV trails will be impacted
