There was no green eggs and ham at Daughtrey Elementary School, but who needs eggs when you can have “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and “Where the Wild Things Are”?
The Manatee River Rotary Club recently delivered some of the best adventure, history and just plain fun books to the Manatee County school as part of the Lakewood Ranch Rotary Club’s Books for Kids program that supports a new state-approved reading program for students.
Manatee River Rotary has helped Daughtrey for several years, sending volunteers there to read with students, but the pandemic kept them out this year. Club members also helped at Johnson Middle School, and this year are providing scholarships for three Southeast High students in the International Baccalaureate program at the school.

i wasn t at georgetown prep. i wasn t at any of the sister schools at the time. so i can t judge. but what i will say is that last night in his interview on fox news, kavanaugh repeatedly used the phrase never, especially in the context of heavy drinking. and there is it may suggest why it is that he has been so loathe to have independent investigators, you know, do any additional background on this case. but the reality of this is there s a yearbook here in which it is clear he and his group of friends had a certain culture that s not unusual for high school. it s not unusual for high school in 1983. it s not unusual for high school now. there s clearly a culture there he is trying to deny. i think it does raise issues about his credibility. congressman, ronada was one of these women who signed this letter supporting judge kavanaugh. he referenced that letter a couple times during the interview. this was before she knew about
the marquee there, you say why not? i say, it needs to stay up because if one voice can speak against it and make it come down that s what happened in our school system we had a voice stand up against one of our sister schools at walnut hill. because of that one complaint the aclu made our school system they had to remove all spiritual references from anything. in god we trust was one of those things at ridgewood. a lot of our people saw that and we live in the community. that s a big part of our day seeing that on our sglienign. of course it is. if it s good for the money, it should be good enough for the sign. what i find interesting, is the students. what s been their response? well, with everything that we see going on in our world today, our students raised a protest and they did it out of love.
