Kewanee honors its fallen with Memorial Day ceremony

While the country remembered those who had died while serving their country, the Kewanee Veterans Council honored their fellow military members who passed away this year at a Memorial Day ceremony held at Veterans Park on Monday.
Jerry Thompson, finance officer for the American Legion and the Kewanee Veterans Council, alongside American Legion Post 31 Commander Ted Canellos, read the names of 47 area service members who had passed away from June 1, 2020 to May 31 of this year.
The ceremony began with an opening prayer by KVC Chaplain, Lou Vandevoorde, and the National Anthem was performed by KHS Chamber Choir members Tamera Anders, Layla Dev, Simon Heck, Bethany Olalde and Gabe Johnson.
