Goldney leaves Unitas on 23 April before joining Pricecheck in May
Outgoing Unitas Wholesale MD Darren Goldney will join wholesaler Pricecheck in the newly created role of commercial director in May.
Goldney is set to leave his role as MD of buying group Unitas on 23 April, before joining the family-owned fmcg wholesaler, itself a Unitas member, the following month.
The new position will see Goldney join the board of directors alongside joint MDs, brother and sister partnership Debbie Harrison and Mark Lythe.
Pricecheck said this senior hire is a “significant moment” in its growth plans and marks the start of the company’s next phase of growth as it aims to achieve a £200m turnover within the next five years.

Eldorado wines was acquired as part of the wholesaler’s purchase of KB Agencies
Scottish wholesaler JW Filshill has acquired the Eldorado Tonic Wine brand, kick-starting its plans to diversify into the alcoholic drinks market.
The acquisition is part of a wider deal that saw the family-owned wholesaler take ownership of KB Agencies for an undisclosed sum.
The new business stream will operate under a subsidiary, Differentiator Brands, which will market and sell the Eldorado range to wholesale and convenience customers.
Filshill said it planned to “accelerate the visibility” of its new brand in its KeyStore and KeyStore More convenience stores in the Scottish market, as well as rolling it out across England, initially targeting cities including Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.

CEO Simon Hannah warned community food supply chains would be in danger of breaking down without having employees vaccinated
JW Filshill MD Simon Hannah has urged the government to allow businesses to buy the coronavirus vaccine in order to roll out jabs to all members of staff.
Hannah warned that failing to prioritise vaccinations for those that distribute food and drink to communities would result in a breakdown in the supply chain.
The family-owned business carried out an in-house flu inoculation programme in November 2020 in a bid to eliminate confusion over flu and coronavirus symptoms and reduce absenteeism.
