Project workers say the B-listed building at Silverburn Park in Leven will be like a “phoenix rising from the ashes” once multi-million pound building work begins. The red brick property on the 27-acre estate once employed 200 people but has lain empty for years, with holes in the roof, boarded-up windows, disused livestock stalls and old farm machinery lying around.

New images reveal what a new Fife visitor centre could look like

Kingdom FM Work is continuing on the Silverburn Flax Mill development, with progress on it said to be good . A design has now been finalised, with 3D images revealed thanks to funding from Fife Council, as well as the Architectural Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The former Flax Mill at Silverburn Park near Leven has lain empty with holes in its roof, had boarded up windows, disused livestock walls and old farm machinery lying in its courtyard for more than three decades. Fife Employment Access Trust, the charity raising funds for the project, is moving into the flax mill centre once it is completed.
