Canton Garden Club looking for new members

Wednesday, June 2, 2021 - 1:10 pm CANTON - The Canton Garden Club is looking for new members or volunteers to help plant flowers and perform weeding and watering. For many years, the club’s beautification program has focused on the Canton Village Park, specifically around the Veterans Monument. The club has also performed work at the Silas Wright Museum, the Silas Wright Cemetery, the Partridge Run Golf Course and the park across from the St. Lawrence County Courthouse. The club meets monthly (excluding April and May). Dues are $15 per year. If interested in becoming a member, call Phyllis Lawrence at 315-528-2443 or 315-386-4518.

St Lawrence County Historical Association campaign surpasses $300,000 raised

Tuesday, December 22, 2020 - 5:36 pm CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Historical Association’s Campaign for the People of St. Lawrence County surpassed the $300,000 mark on Monday, Dec. 21. The $500,000 fundraising campaign will increase the internal endowment that will allow the Historical Association to fund and create new exhibits and programming while expanding educational outreach activities. “It has taken some time but I have kept an optimistic approach to the campaign. It’s truly amazing how generous people can be especially during these tough times,” stated Campaign Coordinator Paul D. Mitchell. “It’s evident the Historical Association is a unique and special place to many people.”
