Revision saves historical barn, possibly other relics

A new proposed plan to improve the intersection at state Route 315 and Jewett Road in Liberty Township would preserve some historical property that had been threatened by earlier designs.
The Ohio Department of Transportation unveiled the plan in a public meeting held virtually May 6.
The plan calls for a traffic signal and left-turn lane from northbound Route 315 at the intersection. A design shared last fall called for a roundabout that would have required the removal of a historical barn near the southwest corner of the intersection.
“It would appear ODOT listened to the various opinions and information and revisited the project design,” Mark Rush, who lives on Route 315 just south of the intersection, told ThisWeek. “I’m pleased it didn’t fall on deaf ears.”

Pipeline would include southeastern Union County

Columbia Gas intends to install a new pipeline through Delaware County, primarily in Liberty and Concord townships, and into southeastern Union County.
A virtual public hearing will be held by the Ohio Power Siting Board at 6 p.m. April 28 to give the public an opportunity to provide testimony regarding the proposed pipeline.
The project, called the Columbia Gas Northern Loop Project, is intended to supply natural gas to a growing part of the region, according to Columbia Gas spokesperson Eric Hardgrove.
“The Northern Loop Project is designed to bring natural gas from pipelines on the eastern side of Franklin County, where supplies are abundant, to areas north and west of Columbus,” Hardgrove said. “Several phases of the project have already been completed, bringing the line to Delaware County. The final phase, being planned now, will loop from southern Delaware
