conversations will yield something that they tried to hammer out. after all the drama last night, that vote staying open much longer than many people thought it would, the majority leader came to the floor and said he was looking toward february 8th rather than the 16th. how hard will it be to find that sweet spot acres date palatable for the democrats and the republicans? there is a debate over the date over the cr. it s really symbolic for the democrats who need to show they ve gotten some concession until they agree to go along. there s been back and forth about the timing of the state of the union. the president is scheduled to give that address on january 30th. some democrats wanted to have the deadline and another potential round of this kind of shutdown talk right before the state of the union. republicans said no way. and then in the logistical kind of colloquial ways of

kick the can down the road. what we ve seen is essentially short-term deal, short-term deal, short-term deal, they could potentially two weeks at a time or whatever. that s what we re in right now. right. we re in the midst of that. trump in nashville today talking to a formerarmer s group, sayin we re going to build that wall. i m with dana, republicans would be crazy to do this. the potential for a government shutdown over funding on a wall that donald trump promised during the campaign trust me, not me, him, would be paid for by mexico. i mean, this is the problem he s asked congress for $18 billion. and the case is, well, mexico will pay for i laugh because it s not going to happen. mexico will pay for it at some later date, but that is the nub on which some, not all, because the daca debate is real, but some of this shutdown talk. which if you are a republican who is up in a vulnerable seat you re thinking, golly, this

you talk to people in washington who remember the good ole days and how this was supposed to work. when this first started happening, there was so much concern about how the defense department buys weapons or how the other agencies will plan. that s kind of gone away as i talk to people in washington, d.c. they re used to this. the shutdown talk is often just a big show. that s true. but what i think about is wasn t the number one thing on the agenda this year to get infrastructure? how are they going to get to it? president trump touted public/private partnerships. he wants the government to invest $200 billion to i incentivize companies to put in $800 million excuse me, $800 billion to create a trillion dollar fund. you ve got democrats saying let s get all of that money from the government. remember, if you let public companies invest, you re giving them that power. it could be a positive, because one could say private money, corporate money is more efficient than government

reporter: mulvany said some of the money was going to a quote, new wall, but it s really just to build up existing fencing. the president s priority was to secure the southern border. reporter: democrats were quick to pounce on the shutdown talk. we don t like government shut downs and we avoid them at all cost. reporter: this budget isn t sitting well with republicans who think they gave up too much to make a deal. there are things in this bill that i just don t understand. this was not winning from the republican point of view. jim acosta joins us now. is the white house going to try to get funding for the wall in the next budget bill? reporter: that s the plan, and keep in mind that this wall is going to cost $12 billion to $15 billion. they re going to try to fight

the government. the shutdown talk is by democrats. that s what their movement is trying to do. when you talk to members around here they say shutdown would be great. they ll blame it on the republicans. we can have government move forward but make the economy continue to grow. that s why we ve been doing the work that s needed and we ll work with this president as we move forward. bill: as you mentioned the one issue getting the most attention is the border wall. president trump tweeted this last hour quote. don t let the fake media tell you that i ve changed my position on the wall. it will get built and help stop drugs, human trafficking, etc. end tweet. is it on or is it out or is it delayed for now? we ll get a piece of moving forward on border security. here we ll continue to move where we don t have it to finish the entire project. one thing i ll tell you, since president trump has taken the presidency and his action
