The Chancellor was more than 200 miles rom Westminster as the Prime Minister apologised for attending a drinks event in his back garden while they were banned in May 2020.
The Chancellor, a potential successor as Tory leader who avoided PMQs by travelling 200 miles from London to Devon, said on Twitter that Mr Johnson was right to apologise over the party scandal.
