S'pore confirms first case of more contagious Covid-19 strain from the UK | The Independent Singapore News

- Advertisement - Singapore – The first case of the B117 infection, a more contagious variant of the Covid-19 virus currently spreading in the UK, was confirmed in Singapore by the Ministry of Health (MOH). In its Wednesday (Dec 23) update, the MOH announced Case 58504, where a 17-year-old female Singaporean who had been studying in the UK from August 2020, was confirmed to be infected with the B117 strain. The student returned to Singapore on Dec 6 and served her stay-home-notice (SHN) at a designated facility upon arrival. The woman had developed a fever the next day and was confirmed Covid-19 positive on Dec 8.

19 imported Covid-19 cases on Dec. 20 arrived from UK, India, Russia & Indonesia

This brings the total number of cases to 58,422. There are no new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infections, and no cases residing in dormitories today. This brings the total number of cases to 58,386. There are no new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infections today. 9 imported cases Amongst them, three were returning Singaporeans or Permanent Residents. This brings the total number of cases to 58,353. There are two Dependant’s Pass holders (Cases 58575 and 58576) who arrived from the UAE and India, and a Long-Term Visit Pass holder (Case 58569) who arrived from India. The remaining case (Case 58574) is a Short-Term Visit Pass holder who is here to visit his Singaporean spouse.

Imported Covid-19 cases reported on Dec. 15 arrived from Brazil, India, US & more

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 16 cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 12pm on Tuesday (Dec. 15). This brings the total number of cases to 58,341. There are no new cases in the community. 15 imported cases There are 15 imported cases, who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore. Among the 15 imported cases, three (Cases 58554, 58555 and 58558) are Singaporeans who returned from India, as well as the U.K. and U.S. Six are Work Pass (Case 58563) or Work Permit (Cases 58564, 58565, 58566, 58567 and 58568) holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Brazil, India and Indonesia. Another two are a Dependant’s Pass holders (Case 58553) who arrived from Spain and a Student’s Pass holder (Case 58556) who arrived from India.
