THIS is where Southampton residents can get free lateral flow tests each week in a bid to help stop the spread of the virus. The rapid-result lateral flow tests (LFT) have so far only been offered to frontline and essential workers who can’t work from home, as well as schoolchildren and their families. But now, the tests are being offered to everyone free of charge in a bid to tackle the coronavirus crisis. The test kits are easy to use and require people to simply swab their nose and throat then wait 20 to 30 minutes for a result, which they register with NHS test and trace through the NHS Covid-19 app or website.
Bromley’s Mayor is touring the borough’s vaccination centres to thank staff and volunteers for their vital work. Certificates are being presented to representatives at GP-led hubs, as well as the council’s pop-up testing centres at the Civic Centre and Kentwood Centre. The Mayor first thanked staff at vaccination centres in West Wickham and Shirley Baptist Church last week, with Penge, Beckenham, Bromley and Orpington next on the list. The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Hannah Gray, said: “On behalf of us all, I simply want to share our heartfelt thanks to all the staff and volunteers who are doing so much to make sure that as many people as possible receive their vaccination in the best way.
