Shaika Café could be just the latest casualty on Sherbrooke St. W.

Article content A popular community café/restaurant/venue in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is in danger of closing, highlighting the problems facing independent stores, cafés and restaurants on Sherbrooke St. W. Shaika Café, which has hosted concerts and art exhibits, is attempting to sell its business. The well-known west-end café just across from N.D.G. Park on Sherbrooke St. can be bought for $158,000, according to a Groupe Sutton real-estate listing. This price is to buy the business, not the building. Annual rent is $36,000 and business taxes are $4,000. The listing reports that revenue for 2020 was $450,000. We apologize, but this video has failed to load.
