The Detroit Lions had a problem. This offseason, they searched for a solution.
For a team that has playoff expectations, following an 8-2 finish with an exceptionally young roster last year, the Lions knew they couldn’t run it back with one of the league’s worst secondaries. That’s the unit that makes everything go for defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, a former Pro Bowl defensive back who got this gig after coaching a New Orleans Saints secondary that was among the NFL’s best under his tutelage.
But in Glenn’s two seasons in Detroit, the Lions have finished 24th.
These past few weeks have focused on Williams’ suspension due to gambling, his Instagram likes (for some reason) and dropped passes and sloppy play. That wasn’t the case on Wednesday, with the receiver shining with Nate Sudfeld throwing his way.
The Lions are taking a page out of the Tigers' book by starting over after starting over not so long ago. In so doing they're hitting the reset button for Dan Campbell and Co., meaning you're stuck with them for even longer.
