The Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved a bid Dec. 16 for HVAC work at Point, Beasley and Oakville Elementary Schools. The board approved an $843,262 bid from Sheet Metal Contractors Inc. for the HVAC projects. The bid includes a $722,000 base bid for the work at all three schools, as well as a $4,950.

Against the odds and despite many challenges, the 2021 Legislative Session ended on time. The House Speaker and the Senate President were together for the iconic dropping of the hankie. There weren’t any strained smiles or forced compliments. They stood side by side, thanking each other as much as they talked about themselves.
National sheet metal, air conditioning group names Gast contractor of the year Monday, December 14, 2020 3:36 PM Guy Gast, president of the Waldinger Corp. Iowa Division, has received the Contractor of the Year Award from the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association. In a news release, Gast’s commitment to volunteering, workforce development and labor relations advocacy work were cited as the reasons for his receiving the award. Gast served as president of SMACNA’s board of directors from 2015 to 2016, and was a board member from 2007 to 2011. He is currently chair of the New Horizons Foundation, SMACNA’s member foundation and research entity. Locally, Gast is a former chair of the Sheet Metal Contractors of Iowa-Central Iowa as well former as president and board member of the Sheet Metal Contractors of Iowa.
