Dr Michelle Acorn
The International Council of Nurses has today announced the appointment of Dr Michelle Acorn as the organisation’s first ever chief nurse.
Dr Acorn will join the ICN from Ontario in Canada, where she has been the provincial chief nursing officer with the Ministries of Health and Long-Term Care since 2018.
In her new role as chief nurse with the ICN, a federation of more than 130 national nursing associations, she will be responsible for its nursing and health policy work, as well as the strategic development and delivery of ICN programmes and projects.
Commenting on her appointment, Howard Catton, ICN chief executive said: “We are delighted to welcome Michelle to the ICN team.
