Domestic violence call leads officials to rescue 24 dogs living in ‘deplorable conditions’ Updated Mar 17, 2021; Facebook Share CARROLLTON TWP, MI Officials have dismantled what they’re describing as an illegal puppy mill operating out of a Carrollton Township home, rescuing 24 dogs in the process. Meanwhile, investigators are seeking potential felony charges against the canines’ owner. An investigation into potential animal abuse began when Michigan Humane Detroit contacted law enforcement in Saginaw County several months ago, said Bonnie Kanicki, director of Saginaw County Animal Care and Control. Carrollton Township police and Animal Control officers began a joint investigation, Kanicki said. Carrollton Township Police Chief Craig A. Oatten said that while officers were watching the house in question, they didn’t have the ability to get a search warrant.
