The reason a great white shark became stranded and ultimately died on a Cape Breton beach remains unknown, as the animal washed away before a necropsy could be conducted.
A supervisor from the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service saw a fin around 10 a.m. Sunday at Rainbow Haven Beach. The beach was closed for monitoring but reopened after two hours.
