Man, 18, shot in shoulder as home, garage fired upon

MANSFIELD - An 18-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his right upper shoulder at 1:22 a.m. Thursday at 279 Sheridan Ave. as suspects fired upon the house and garage.
Mansfield Police Capt. Shari Robertson said, The victim was in the garage area when the shooting occurred. It is my understanding that the wound was not life threatening and officers provided medical aid at the scene by applying pressure to the wound to help stop bleeding, prior to EMS arriving. Officers contacted witnesses at the scene, however, they were not very cooperative, nor was the victim, Robertson said.

MANSFIELD - Mansfield police are searching for an unknown male suspect who stabbed a woman in her 70s over 30 times at 7:20 a.m. Thursday as she was lying in her bed in her apartment in the 900 block of Brookfield Drive, according to a news release from Mansfield police Capt. Shari Robertson.
Officers were called to the address in reference to an assault.
Upon arrival, officers were advised by Mansfield fire medical personnel that the female victim had been stabbed.

Officer Clay Blair, 26, was patrolling the area when he saw a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on South Mulberry Street near Mendota Street around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, according to a police report.
A traffic stop was initiated. The driver, later identified as Elijah Williams, began to make furtive movements by reaching in the left side of the driver s side door, according to the report.
Blair asked Williams to step out of the vehicle, which he did. He began to reach into his pockets several times, according to video recorded by the Mansfield police cruiser s dash camera.
MANSFIELD - Mansfield police haven t ruled out foul play in the death of Todd Rice, former president of the Mansfield Gay Pride Association and champion for the local LGBTQ community.
Capt. Shari Robertson said an autopsy, the results of which could take anywhere from 10 to 12 weeks, will provide more insight into the case. Montgomery County conducts autopsies from Richland County.
Rice, 45, was found dead inside his home on April 5 after his employer called police, saying Rice hadn t shown up for work.
The door to his home, 422 Marion Ave., was ajar, according to a police report. Rice s 2016 Jeep Renegade was also missing.
