In view of the verdict, the state authorities have ordered all schools and colleges in Dakshina Kannada district to be closed on the day even as prohibitory orders have been imposed in several places.
The verdict has come as a huge setback to the students who had challenged the ban on wearing of hijabs in schools in the state. The students indicated that they would appeal against the verdict soon.
