Despite the pandemic, American Airlines is investing in the premium-cabin experience.
On Monday, the Fort Worth-based carrier unveiled new amenity kits that’ll begin rolling out immediately, designed in partnership with two well-respected brands, Shinola and D.S. & Durga.

The new amenity kits are available starting on Monday on all flights between the United States and London Heathrow (LHR). They’ll roll out across other long-haul international and transcontinental routes throughout the summer.

Shinola Detroit Inc. had a deal with American Airlines early last year to give London-bound passengers amenity kits designed by the Detroit-based company known for its upscale watches and leather accessories. A lot has happened since then.
The deal was put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but now that people are traveling again, and brick-and-mortar retail stores are eyeing a comeback, it is back on. And so are the luxury design brand s broader plans to rebound from the pandemic by continuing to diversify product offerings such as a new line of eyeglasses launching soon and spreading its wings internationally.

Irwin named ACEL distinguished student
Allyson Irwin
WHEELERSBURG Allyson Irwin, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, has been named a 2021 Distinguished Senior by the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership at The Ohio State University. Irwin, along with 13 other seniors, was selected by the faculty and staff of the department for her excellence both in and out of the classroom.
“ACEL has outstanding students, and we are excited to recognize these 14 seniors for their exceptional efforts in and outside of the classrooms,” said Dr. Shannon Washburn, professor and chair of ACEL. “We know they will succeed in their chosen career paths because of the dedication they have shown to their academics and community involvement.”
