reporter: witnesses heard terrifying screams and called police. a 6-year-old boy walking with his mom near this mailbox was chased and attacked by a raccoon. one man jumped in to action. when i kind of drove up maybe about 5 or 6 feet away from her, i seen this huge raccoon on top could see his red jacket. reporter: danny walls used a painter s pole to knock down the animal which had viciously attacked the child. i seen there was a little bit of space between him and the kid but i could see the raccoon biting the kid s face. reporter: danny noticed commotion outside and thought a man was attacking a woman. when she came outside, she realized the raccoon. then he said after it got off of him, he kept hitting it because he didn t want it to get back up and try to attack little kid got attacked by a raccoon. reporter: shannon lambert made that 911 call after seeing the disturbing attack. the boy was bleeding. it looked like it bit his eye and the side of his fa
