IPOH: A 49-year-old night market trader pleaded not guilty to three counts of raping his underage stepdaughter at his house in Ayer Tawar.
The accused – whose name is being withheld – claimed trial after the charges were read out before Sessions Court judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini yesterday.
He claimed trial to three counts of raping the victim who was 13 at the time. The offence under Section 376A of the Penal Code carries a maximum 30-year imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
All of the offences are said to have been committed in the master bedroom of the house between June and December last year.

IPOH, Feb 8 A 49-year-old night market (pasar malam) trader claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to allegedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter in Kampung Banjar, Ayer Tawar.
The accused clad in a yellow T-shirt and blue jeans pleaded not guilty when the charges were read before Judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini.
The accused may not be named in order to protect the victim s identity.
