She has in the past called Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘danga (riots) babu’ (back in May 2014) and Amit Shah ‘Mota Bhai’ (Gujarati for ‘big brother’). But in late December she sprang a surprise when she gave a rebuttal to Shah’s statement (on December 20) alleging Bengal’s dismal development indices. Dismissing Shah s allegations point by point, she cited official statistics to say that the home minister owed her a treat of dhokla. “Amit Shahji owes me a treat. I love dhokla and other Gujarati food, she said.
