CHINIOT: Villagers of Chak 195-B have condemned police highhandedness with local families late on Thursday.
They gathered outside the village on Friday and protested against the police for, what they claim, misbehaving with women of the family of Shafqat Abbas.
They said some eight to 10 police vans surrounded the village and officials broke into the house of Shafqat. Officials, headed by Bhowana ASI Ahmad Yar, broke into the house and thrashed women when they asked for search warrants or reason for the raid.
The officials broke the household and took away seven-tola gold and Rs60,000 in cash. They asked for the whereabouts of Shafqat and also threatened them with detaining children if Shafqat did not turn himself to the police.
