The year was 2014, and Nia Kelley had everything going for her. At 36, she had three degrees and a high-powered job. She was in great physical shape and had an adoring boyfriend. The couple had just bought a townhome in Plano. Her life was full and complete.
Then, one Wednesday morning, she was still asleep when her boyfriend, Jasen Jester, left for work at Capitol One. He kissed her goodbye and let her sleep in while he went to work. He returned home to find her asleep again.
“I thought she had had a long day, so instead of waking her up, I went to another room to watch TV and fell asleep on the couch. The next morning, she came downstairs, woke me up and pointed to the clock. It was 7:45 a.m. She didn’t say anything, but I jumped up because I needed to be at work in 15 minutes. I dressed and went out the door.”
