Police search public housing developer in bribery investigation

Police searched offices of a public housing corporation in Seoul on Friday as part of an investigation into bribery allegations involving its employees.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said investigators searched the headquarters and two branch offices of Seoul Housing and Communities Corp. (SH) affiliated with the city government.
Three employees of the company are being probed over suspicions they took bribes from real estate agents operating in an SH-led housing development area.
The suspects are alleged to have provided information related to the project and received money and entertainment in return.

Land Minister Byeon Chang-heum had to make a public apology even before he took office. Since he was nominated to lead the nation s real estate policy on Dec. 4 last year, public criticism against his past inappropriate remarks and his following apologies have made bigger headlines than his policies.
When he was nominated for the minister position, a past remark he made when he was head of the Seoul Housing & Communities Corp. (SH) surfaced. It was about an accident at Guui Station in Seoul in 2016, where a subcontracted 19-year-old irregular worker was killed by a subway train while fixing a safety door on a subway platform. At the t
