The Senate has uncovered how the Ministry of Health mismanaged a total sum of N4.6 billion fund that was meant to tackle Ebola scourge in Nigeria.
The Senator Matthew Urhoghide, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edo South led Senate Committee on Public Accounts is raising the alarm of how the money was spent and sustained the indictment report against the Ministry of Health over the issue due to failure of the officials of the Ministry to explain their own side of the allegation.
The Senate Committee on Public Accounts chaired by Senator Mathew Urhoghide sustained the Auditor General Report against the Ministry of Health after the officials of the Ministry declined the series of invitations of the Committee.

The Senate has exposed a possible loss of N478 million meant for Zungeru power project in Aso Savings and Loans PLC.
According to the Senate, the deposit was meant for payment of compensation to displaced persons under the Zungeru power project for the purpose of securing housing facilities for staff of the Ministry of Power.
Senator Matthew Urhoghide, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edo South led Senate Committee on Public Accounts is raising the alarm of how the mismanagement of the money deposited in the Aso Savings and Loans was carried out.
The Senator Urhoghide led Committee is relying on the query raised by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation in the 2015 report and brought before it for probe and subsequent presentation to the Senate at Plenary.

THE construction of Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, has been hit with an N87 billion fraud, as officials of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) paid for contracts not executed.
Consequently, the office of the Auditor General of the Federation, not comfortable with the fraud following the construction of the University, recommended some of the officials of NIMASA for Investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Series of invitations extended to the leadership of NIMASA by Senator Matthew Urhoghide (PDP, Edo South) led Senate Committee on Public Accounts to defend the 2015 indictment report of the Auditor General were not honoured by the agency.

Lawyers have urged the Federal Government to investigate and prosecute Ministry of Petroleum Resources officials involved in contract splitting as disclosed by the Senate. This, they said, would serve as deterrent to others.
The Senate recently uncovered how the ministry, which is headed by President Muhammadu Buhari, spent N14 million for biros and N46 million for letterhead papers and raised the alarm.
Stakeholders in the oil and gas sector as well as transparency and accountability advocates are disturbed over how the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, directly overseen by President Muhammadu Buhari spent a whopping N116 million on biros, papers and inks in one year.
