A bunch of Republican state legislators across the country are apparently unconcerned with either the 1st Amendment (or reality) have decided that they need to stop social media companies from engaging in any sort of content moderation. Earlier this week, Florida
Man Governor Ron DeSantis proposed just such a law, which would be struck down as unconstitutional with amazing speed. The bill, dubbed the Transparency in Technology Act would do a bunch of things laid out in this infographic the Florida GOP sent around, almost all of which the state has no authority to do. On the content moderation front, it would require set standards for content moderation that can t easily be changed and require the company apply those standards consistently.
Voting machines may soon be inspected in Maricopa County, Ariz., following a state legislature’s efforts on Monday to start the process of confiscating the machines.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Eddie Farnsworth acted to subpoena the machines after a six-hour hearing on the election and Arizona residents’ ability to trust election results, Arizona Public Media reported. Farnsworth said subpoenas for the machines are expected to be issued as early as Tuesday.
Farnsworth said clearing up concerns linked to Dominion Voting Systems machines was the issue, not changing the outcome of the election. He said the goal was to “try and see if we can reinsert some confidence in our election process.”
Arizona legislator plans to seize Dominion Voting machines
An Arizona state legislator on Monday began the process of seizing the Dominion Voting System machines.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Eddie Farnsworth took the action a six-hour hearing concerning the election and the ability of Arizona residents to trust the results, according to KJZZ-FM.
Republican state Rep. Mark Finchem praised the action in a news release.
“Since shortly before the 2020 election a number of my colleagues and I have been examining potential fraud pathways and illegal actions through which our 2020 election could become tainted,” Finchem said.
“I compliment Chairman Eddie Farnsworth, Senator Sonny Borrelli (Senate Whip), Senator Rick Gray (Majority Leader), Senator Michelle Ugenti-Rita, and Senator Vince Leach.
