Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is urging Republicans to vote against the creation of a Jan. 6 commission. Speaking on the senate floor on Thursday, McConnell argued against the formation of a bipartisan group that would be tasked with looking into the Capitol breach.
During his speech, McConnell continued to push that a commission is unnecessary because Jan. 6 is already being investigated by congressional committees and by law enforcement.

In a joint statement, several Republican Senators blasted President Joe Biden’s defense budget, calling it “disappointing,” and saying, “talk is cheap, but defending our country is not.”
In the joint statement by Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL), they blast Biden for having prioritized trillions in spending on a “liberal wish list” instead of providing funding for America’s military, showcasing the president’s neglect.
The group of Senators reiterate what Biden recently said: “If we don’t get moving, [China] is going to eat our lunch.” The group thinks that, with the proposal Biden released, he’s showing China “should set the table.”

Nearly 7,000 residents in North Carolina were told via text message last week that they tested positive for the Coronavirus despite not actually having contracted the disease.
“More than 6,700 individuals in Mecklenburg County in North Carolina were told in a text message sent from Mecklenburg County Health Department on Friday that they tested positive for COVID-19 and over 500 people were told through a county email that they were also infected with the novel coronavirus.
