policing act will be on the agenda as well. that s a great segues to you because you will be in that meeting at the white house in just a few hours. what will you tell the president and the vice president today? well, we re going to tell the president, craig, that this issue is urgent. that we re fating an emergency, an emergency in black and brown communities. it s not a partisan emergency. i know that s how some people talk about it and how some people cover it. we need this president to see past the politics. he always talks about bipartisanship going past politics in is an important time. we need to see the impact on actual real people. the people that we represent, and in our cases around the country the people who are his constituents. the people helping get him elected. we hope to put that on his mind today. is there something that the administration has not done that you would like to see them do? the pulpit is bully, but it
do to our democracy? well, if this logic continues, democracy becomes impossible. so one thing which happens is that the person who tells the lie is necessarily the leader. because the lie is independent reality, everything goes back to the leader. evidence doesn t matter. it s only what the leader says. the second thing that happens as you say is the political party gets purged. you re left with the true believers and cynics and fools. you just need enough cynics to keep the ball rolling. and the third thing that happens is you make a play for power which is based upon entirely different rules. if you re going to tell a lie american elections don t work, that means you re going to come to power in some way besides elections. it s as plain as that. that segues nicely to the next question. there s this sham audit happening in arizona. now it seems to be spreading. an audit is moving forward it
martha: you think it s stronger for democrats and the economy? feel like that s healthcare. healthcare, please. healthcare is a economic issue. it s the way they re playing. when people go to the voting booth, am i i m employed, is my family living a better life. if he s not removed from office, they say martha: let s talk about carlie simon. we like to make segues, this is segue friday. she has a book out about her relationship, her friendship with jackie kennedy. she s talking about the me too movement and saying something that gets backlash these days. she basically is saying not that i want everybody to shut up about it, but not to tell it like it is but feels unnatural to me a man can t say anything without feeling a reckoning. it s not about men that go overboard, you know what i mean. here s an example.
. welcome back, joining us from washington, axios a.m. white house reporter alayna treene. good morning to you. talk to us about axios s one big thing. today s one big thing is a closer look at ambassador john bolton s chaotic exit from the white house, which was announced yesterday. my colleagues and i are reporting that on monday around 2:00 p.m. before the president departed for north carolina, he and bolton had a meeting during which bolton had offered to resign, and so this time line obviously contradicts what the president said. the president tweeted yesterday morning that he was the one who asked for bolton s resignation, and we think that this pattern kind of underscores, especially a week after the sharpie gate stuff that happened with the path of hurricane dorian, it really underscores how the president likes to adjust facts to fit his narrative and segues into whoever is going to take bolton s place, it shows them
after first saying goldman was not a fossil fuel exact, the former vice president then said he might reconsider the fund-raiser. watch. but if that turns out to be true, then i will not, in any way, except his help. well, it turned out to be true, and biden still attended the fund-raiser, though his campaign argued that andrew goldman doesn t meet the definition of a fossil fuel executive, and joe biden double down on that, because while he was at the fund-raiser, held by the fossil fuel company cofounder, biden said, i just want to be very clear to everybody here that i am committed to not raising money from fossil fuel executives, and i m not doing that here. and that statement segues nicely into why liberals are so skeptical of biden s anti-fossil fuel platform. the director of climate hawks, the clinical action committee, said disappointing to see vice president biden attempting to cite technicalities of the pledge rather than simply comply
