The Berlin techno institution will also release a vinyl box set and book later this year
Berlin club and record label Tresor is marking its 30th anniversary with a series of rare reissues and more this year.
Kicking off the celebrations in May, Tresor will reissue a self-titled album by 3MB (consisting of Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann) and Juan Atkins, which originally came out in 1992. The album was a key release in bringing the techno of Detroit together with Berlin styles in the early 90s, with Atkins and von Oswald since collaborating on a number of projects.

Can it really be a whole year since I was sporting a ‘beer jacket’ in north London at the Static Shock Weekend, being given a flyer for
The Chisel’s debut gig, briefly wondering who The Chisel were and swiftly realising they were all in the place too? Course it can! We’re not going to do that soft-arsed Facebook anniversary palaver, though, because The Chisel have had a productive 12 months even if you haven’t.

Mosquitoes are a band best described through what they are not. They are no wave by negation; post punk but only at a push, and are more This Heat or DNA than Orange Juice. They are not rock or punk, although they have drums, guitar, bass and vocals; they are certainly not jazz, although like free improvisation there is an ambition to escape genre. They are like Mars in some respects, but make

Drums come to the fore in this debut album from Congolese-American artist Kiazi Malonga
In the Bantu languages spoken throughout Central, Eastern and Southern Africa, ‘ngoma’ represents an important part of musical and social culture. The literal translation is usually given as ‘drum’, but it more accurately refers to a unified concept of drum-dance-song-music. You can beat the ngoma, or sing it, or dance it, and in doing so, create ngoma. Ngoma is at once playing, moving and listening – it is by nature reciprocal and collaborative.
Tembo kia Ngoma explores the drum and its wider meanings in sound in an impressive and considered debut from Congolese-American artist Kiazi Malonga.
