Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana challenged the United States government on Good Friday, April 15, to provide the details of the reports of human rights abuses allegedly perpetrated by state security forces in the Philippines.

"If this is the case, why does the US continue to provide military aid to the Duterte regime? From 2016 to 2021, Philippines received some $600 million in military aid during the time of Duterte, despite the horrible human rights record of the administration," Reyes said in a statement. "The glaring disregard for human rights in the Philippines must be addressed by cutting off US military aid to the Duterte regime," he added.
