transcripts of the interviews it has conducted in its investigation. the request came on april 20th with the doj indicating that some committee interviews may contain information relevant to a criminal investigation we are conducting. nbc news has now confirmed that reporting. the doj did not indicate the number of transcripts they wanted or if there were any specific interviews they were interested in. so far the committee has interviewed more than 1,000 people, including many close to the twice-impeached former president. while attorney general merrick garland has received criticism about the justice department s response to the insurrection, this is the latest sign of the department appearing to escalate the scope of its inquiry. and as the new york times also points out several months ago the department quietly detailed a former federal prosecutor from maryland to the department headquarters. he s overseeing the politically fraught question of whether a case can be made
basis. you have to raise it now. that provides a basis for an interlock tory order. both of these cases would go to appeal, if necessary, before the commencement of a full trial. to answer that question. real quickly, i know we re out of time. in georgia when they posted the grand jury indictment before the grand jury came to the courthouse, before they met, before they voted, and in georgia you don t have to use a grand jury. when you do you have to use it properly. that s a perfect case for grand jury abuse and since in georgia there are no secrecy rules as we know, it would be easy for defense counsel to find out what the hell took place in that grand jury. so these are things that can be done because there is no question that the department of justice has abused the law. they are piling on the charges. there is no question that the
putting that aside, there needs to be coordination p when you have the same witnesses when you are calling the georgia governor to testify before your respective grand juries the prosecutors want to bhoe what has been said. things to follow up. on you know, it seems as though they have a lot of the same witnesses, they have overlapping facts where they are looking at a perfect call, for example, if you are looking at the same conduct you need no know what the witnesses have said and coordinate in terms of discovery obligations down the road sharing when the secrecy rules pertaining to grand jury investigations can be complicated so you need to be to make sure that you are following the rules and doing this appropriately. it s interesting that this comes as the new york times siena college poll shows in a hypothetical general election matchup trump and biden tied at 43%. yeah. i mean, it s i think there is this assumption particularly on the left that
wasn t gonna comply with the demands they were making and that made sense. i mean i, at the time, the were asking for things tha could violate secrecy rules in new york, which is a felony. some of the privileges t protect attorney, and basi federalism but at the end of the day, you can t allow them to pressure him, or try to throw them of track, distract. he s got a case to put together, and you know, the hous republicans know better than they re trying to intimidate or even get it in an ongoing criminal prosecution congressman, we mentioned your former prosecutor and you ve seen your share o crime cases. what is your assessment of the hush money case against th former president trump yes, i ve heard a lot o people say that they think it really weak and all of that. i thought it was better than i was expecting, frankly i thought having miss mcdougal involved, the doorkeeper, yo
