New Exeter NH principal apologizes to AZ parents for 'whackos' comment

EXETER   The incoming principal of Main Street School has apologized for comments she made in an email calling parents who opposed critical race theory “whackos.” Tonja Neve, current principal of Desert Valley Elementary School in Glendale, Arizona, has received criticism in her home state after the conservative Young America’s Foundation (YAF) obtained emails of hers through a public record request. Critical race theory states there are patterns of systemic racism ingrained in laws and institutions in the United States, continuing to have an unfair effect on Black people and other people of color. Teaching these concepts in school has been criticized by some conservatives nationally.

Dismiss Save Normal text size Targets are set for HSC results, NAPLAN, attendance and wellbeing Principals are concerned the targets will lead to perverse outcomes  Advertisement Principals warn new school performance targets will lead to “perverse” outcomes such as students being pressured to do easier HSC subjects, schools rejecting difficult or disabled kids, and parents being refused permission to take children out of school. But the NSW Department of Education said the only reason schools would oppose the targets, introduced under the new School Success Model (SSM), would be if they wanted a “less transparent and accountable education system”.
