But Stevens, a lifelong village resident, witnessed her neighbors becoming wary of the water system as they learned that lead which can pose a significant health hazard had been detected in pipes in several homes. It created this huge distrust inside of the community, she said.
The lead problem came on the heels of the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, and erupted into a national story, leading some to question whether Sebring would become Ohio s version of Flint.
Some drinking water fountains were turned off and schools were closed for several days. Children were tested for lead poisoning. Residents opted for bottled water. And the village s water superintendent faced criminal charges for knowing and not notifying residents about the lead issue in a timely manner.

With 61 of 67 Mahoning County precincts counted, Sebring and Struthers both are showing overwhelmingly support for school levies.

For the tax, 75.61 percent
Against the tax 24.39 percent Struthers City Schools 6.9-mill renewal for current expenses
For the tax levy, 78.29 percent
Against the tax levy, 21.71 percent

VENICE, Fla. Linda Sue Little, 71, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family and friends.
Linda was born in Youngstown to Robert and June Sterling on Jan. 29, 1950. She attended and graduated from Boardman High School in 1968 and then went on to earn a degree in elementary education from Kent State University.
Linda would eventually marry her high school sweetheart, Randall C. Little, on July 14, 1973.
Linda was an elementary schoolteacher in the Sebring Local Schools for 35 years, where her hard work and dedication helped her to receive multiple accolades over the years. She was named Alliance Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year and the WFMJ Class Act Teacher of the Year. After years of living in Boardman, she moved to Venice upon her retirement, where she enjoyed reading, beach trips, spending time with friends and family and most importantly, spoiling her granddaughter.
